THE TEXT-SOUND FESTIVAL IS BACK!

With the festival TWISTED SHOUT, Fylkingen returns to its once acclaimed genre in cross-border art: Text-sound composition. This international art form between music, sound and poetry today takes different forms and carries many overlapping labels such as sound poetry, sound art, sonoric poetry, phonetic music, poetry partitions, poetry action, cut-ups, empty words, ars acustica, radio art, crirythme, m.fl.

Do we find new challenges in contemporary text-sound art and are there works worth rediscovering? is the question we want to ask. Where has the text-sound art gone, or has it been here all along, do we just need to listen with other ears?
We are pleased to present both international and Swedish artists who provide a broad spectrum of what Text-Sound Art can be today. We are also exploring acoustic archives to present historical recordings, overlooked, forms of representation, where the voice speaks, growls, yawns, mumbles, growls, whispers – “The thought is born in the mouth” (TT).

The latest international festival that Fylkingen arranged was "Hej Tatta Gôrem" (1993) and after many years in decline, it is now time to test the validity of Text-Sound Art in the 2000s.
In February, we arranged the pre-festival "Twisted Shout # 1", a first step to relaunch the genre and now it's time for the next chapter!

In the concerts on Friday and Saturday we will be able to meet our international guests in both shorter and longer performances.

In the days before the festival itself, there is the opportunity to participate in a workshop with Maja Jantar, which leads up to a performance on Saturday afternoon. At the concert, year 5 from the culture school Raketen in Björkhagen will also appear - who created their own text-sound poems together with Lily Bigestans, Benedictio Carling and Jenny Soep.

As an extra treat, we offer some text-sounding mums pieces in the bar as a prologue and epilogue every evening.

In connection with the festival the compilation “Wordless is not Speechless” will be published with texts, pictures and scores both from pioneers of the genre as well as from the artists performing in the festival. Editor: Teddy Hultberg. Graphic design: Heidi Edström.
