LARS BRÖNDUM & ANDERS SJÖLIN

Datum:

AN EVENING WITH LIVE ELECTRONIC MUSIC AND MUSIC IN SURROUND.
LARS BRÖNDUM and ANDERS SJÖLIN

INTRÄDE: 100 SEK / 60 SEK

One of the pieces that is premiered is “Phaethon”. It is a suite for fixed media and an optional live instrument (in this case a Theremin and a modular synthesizer). The composition is divided in four movements and is based on the following sentence by Solon, "Phaethon, the son of Helios, having yoked the steeds in his father's chariot, because he was not able to drive them in the path of his father, burnt up all that was upon the earth" (1.). There are many analogies for this mythological figure, but here the artistic interpretation is a description of human’s stupidity and an ominous warning of the effects of global warming.
