BILL ORCUTT – (US, Editions Mego)
Live at 21.30

Photography: Herr Hanz

Former guitarist and founder of the duo Harry Pussy (later a trio) Bill Orcutt’s sound is a stuttered re-imagining of blues guitar. One can hear familiar Southern folk scales between Orcutt’s jagged solo acoustic phrases, pulling and pushing melodies into unresolved fragments that eventually come unmoored in vast and satisfying note-torrents.

With each recording and individual performance, Bill Orcutt continues to discover and invent a wholly unique sonic vernacular built around raw and tortured tone, ragged minimalism, and seemingly inexhaustible improvisational stamina.

No one is playing acoustic guitar like Bill Orcutt right now. No one.
- Lars Gotrich writing about How The Thing Sings on

Quite awe-inspiring, and unlike anything else I can think of.
- Byron Coley, Wire Magazine

Anyone can admire the raw soul of his playing and the way he shoots out
ideas in real-time, reacting so quickly it's as if he's creating a new
language as he speaks it... it's impossible to listen to A New Way to Pay
Old Debtswithout being affected by it.
- Marc Masters writing about A New Way To Pay Old Debts in Pitchfork

Martins Rokis from Riga has been experimenting with various forms of electronic music since the late 90’s, but while studying philosophy and delving into sound programming his focus gradually shifted away from musical aspects of sound more towards experiential relationships between sound, space and body and multimodality of human perception.

Martins Rokis is working with sound in different contexts/forms, crossing boundaries between so-called computer music, psychedelic noise and abstract sound art, blending controlled generative strategies with improvisation.
