Sirens (19.32’)
Based on a selection taken from many years of recordings of sirens from around the world. In this work: Tokyo, Naha/Okinawa, Hiroshima, New York, Athens and Rotterdam, 2013 – 2017. Premiere in sept – oct 2019 at Fylkingen, Stockholm.
Susanne Skog’s work within sound art and composition has its roots in narrative art forms, experi- mental radio, radio drama and documentaries. Her artwork evolves from her own recordings from around the world, sonic material which she turns into new shapes and expressions, frictions and correlations, often considering movements and spatialisation as a vital element.
She also works as an arts journalist and editor, currently for Nutida musik (the leading paper peri- odical for sound art and contemporary music in the Nordic countries), and as freelance radio pro- ducer. In the early nineties she was also one of the founding editors of the most influential femi- nist magazine in Sweden, bang.
She was chairperson for Fylkingen (a society and venue for new music and experimental art in Stockholm) 2012 – 2015, and for Sound of Stockholm, the annual international festival for new music and sound art, 2012 – 2016.
Her compositions and sound installations have been presented in many contexts around the world, such as Experimental Intermedia New York, The Moscow Biennale for Contemporary
Art, Transmediale/Nordic Embassies Berlin, World Expo 2010/Swedish pavilion in Shanghai, Ark Hill Music Week in Tokyo and in various Swedish music and art spaces, festivals as well as in the radio, in Sweden and elsewhere.
Susanne Skog studied Philosophy, Aesthetics and Feminist theory at the University of Stockholm, Artistic Radio Production at Dramatiska institutet in Stockholm, Performative Criticism at Stock- holm University of the Arts/Royal Institute of Art, and electroacoustic music at EMS in Stockholm.
Text-sound compositions 8-11

During the years from 1968-70, Fylkingen Records released series of 7 LPs in collaboration with the Swedish Radio, all of which contained material that was presented during the yearly festivals for Text-Sound Composition that Fylkingen arranged during those three years. The yearly festivals continued from 1971-74. A series of records that documented these festivals was planned but, due to economic reasons at that time, they were never made. Fylkingen Records has now, over 40 years later, found the material that was presented at these festivals and continues the series with vol. 8-11 - one record for each year´s festival during the years 1971-74.

Katt Hernandez - SO(U)LEN(SKIN(NER) (LP)
FYLP 1038

Available for purchase on our Bandcamp page: https://fylkingen.bandcamp.com/album/so-u-len-skin-ner

SO(U)LEN)SKIN(NER) is the second solo LP Katt Hernandez has released. After 13 years as a veteran of the variated wonderments of the experimental music scenes of the east coast, Katt moved to Sweden. She became a producer at Fylkingen and several other organizations for new and experimental music, started making electro-acoustic music alongside her long beloved violin at EMS and the Royal Music Academy alike, and is playing all about Sweden and further with a burgeoning tumult of new and fantastic musicians. Eight years after her first record Katt’s violin world, full of micro-tonalities, spectral harmonics, invisible artifacts and secret ululating tales of the impossible, has morphed in this new place.

This is a record for Stockholm, recorded at EMS with a microphone only three examples were ever made of. The title is the simultaneous two languages which now twine together: ”Lent skiner solen på själens skinn / The sun shines down softly on the skin of the soul.” The improvisations, done entirely on the acoustic violin and in single takes, build upon listening to the moving of huge granite mountains for the building of things on Stockholms stone terrain, and the stones and machines in all the cities waterways found with hydrophones- on the songs of the new birds here, and the trains, and the hours the sun came forth until midnight and disappeared over a hundred years of rising and setting. It is for the endlessly disappearing and re-emerging versions of the city and the people who live in those tides.

The LP is co-released on Ehse in the USA and Fylkingen Records in Sweden.

Lars Åkerlund/Zbigniew Karkowski - Aware Not Aware/Radio Enemy (LP)
FYLP 1037

This split LP is one of several collaborative projects between Zbigniew Karkowski and Lars Åkerlund, which took place during the years 2012–2013. The collaboration between Karkowski and Åkerlund goes back to the 1980s, with projects like P.I.T.T. and the Dreamers and Onge-4-X. They continued during the 90s with an opera setting of Dostoyevsky´s The Idiot and a trio with Dror Feiler, among other things. Collaborations during recent years include the CD Horology, which Karkowski and Åkerlund made together with Jean-Louis Huhta. The three of them also made a couple of live performances during 2012 and 2013 in the re-unioned 80s group Mental Hackers. It was after their acclaimed concert with Mental Hackers at Fylkingen in May 2012 that the idea of this LP was born, whereafter Karkowski and Åkerlund each began working on one piece for it. The record proved to become Karkowski´s last one – at least the last that he, himself, took part in the planning of.

Zbigniew Karkowski died on December 12th 2013, after having been diagnosed with cancer only two months earlier.

Lary 7 - The End Of An Era (LP)
FYLP 1036

Lary 7 is a New York downtown legend who has blessed the city's experimental music scene with his creative presence since the early 80s. As a musician, he has worked and/or collaborated with artists and bands such as The Jickets, Swans, Jarboe, Jimi Tenor, Alexander Hacke of Einstürzende Neubauten, to name but a few, and he has a yet unfinished album together with Tom Verlaine to come. As a photographer, Lary 7 has worked with artists including Matthew Barney and The Andy Warhol Foundation. He has also hosted evenings in Manhattan for years, usually in basements, showcasing experimental film and strange performances.

Lary 7 does not use digital technology and is strictly devoted to analogue equipment and old instruments, often using objects found in the streets of New York, at flea markets or in junk yards.

"The End of an Era" was recorded live at Fylkingen in 2006. The front cover photo shows a cassette trapped inside NYC sidewalk concrete. Lary 7 says it has been there for years. It is slowly disappearing; a beautiful image of old technology slowly fading away - and an illustrating image of the title of this record.

Earlier this year, artist, writer and film maker Danielle de Picciotto (of Crime & The City Solution) finished her documentary on Lary 7 entitled "Not Junk Yet - The Art of Lary 7".
