Entertainment & Arts - Online Media
Description:
Hz (http://www.hz-journal.org) is an online journal about new media and new music and is published twice a year.

Hz is published by the non-profit art organisation Fylkingen in Stockholm. Fylkingen (http://www.fylkingen.se/about) was established in 1933 as a venue for new music. Since its establishment, it has introduced yet-to-be-established art forms including EAM in the 50s, Video Art, Performance, Sound Art, etc. Cage, Stockhausen, Nam Jun Paik, Stelarc were all introduced to the Swedish audience/public through Fylkingen. Our members include leading composers, musicians, sound artists as well as dancers, performance artists and video artists. (For more info on Fylkingen, please go to http://www.hz-journal.org/n4/hultberg.html)

Hz derives from a long tradition of Fylkingen publishing articles that concern the areas of our members' activities. "Fylkingen Bulletin" was introduced in the '60s and its successor Hz was introduced in the late '90s as a non-virtual magazine. Since its move to the online net arena in 2000, Hz has published articles by the sound artist Kim Cascone, the net artist/curator Agricola de Cologne, the EAM composer Suguru Goto, the new media artist Jeremy Hight, etc. covering huge area of current new media scenes. In 2003 a net gallery was established as a section of Hz, introducing international net artworks. Hz net gallery collection includes works by Mouchette, Han Hoogerbrugge, Margot Lovejoy, Peter Horvath, Nicolas Clauss, and Babel.
